How To Set Up Your Home Office
Deciding where you are going to put your home office may be the hardest step. If you have made the decision to work at home, you need to make sure that you have a space to work. It’s too hard and complicated to have an office space where you constantly have to move things around because the space is used for more than just your office. You need a space to call your own and to be able to walk away from it after you are done.

Simple home office design
Every home office design is different for everyone. It depends on what you will be doing and how often you will be working as to how you will design your office. You need to make sure that your office space has everything you need to feel comfortable and at home, yet productive and inspired.
Designing Your Office
Once you have decided where you are going to put your home office it’s time to design it. You need to find a place for your desk that doesn’t have you facing away from the window nor directly facing it. You need to make sure that your desk area gets enough light.
If possible, start with an empty room that you can design that will work for you. For example, if you have a walk in closet that you are transforming to a home office you need to make sure that all the clothes are taken out of the closet. You don’t want to work in between outfits. Before you place any furniture in the closet, you will need to design a plan on paper to map out where everything will go. If you need some shelves put up or new lighting do that before you place your furniture in the room. Your plan should include any wall petitions or electrical outlets that you will need.
Before you move any of the furniture in, you need to make a list of all the supplies you need to make your business run smoothly. If you don’t know what you need to run your business then do a search online to find out. You can also start with the basics and buy as you need the equipment or supplies.
Move In
Once your room is ready, you can begin moving in your office equipment according to your design. Keep to the design that you created on the plan. Start with the large items first like furniture first, equipment second, and office supplies last.

Working on a room corner
Now you need to accessorize your office. Hang up a bulletin board to place important memos or appointments you must memorize. Add family photos to your decor and make sure that the room is decorated to please you and no one else.
Floors
Add the finishing touches to your new home office. Place rectangle rugs down in front of your desk and at your feet. Place shag rugs down under your desk and where you will be standing a lot for added comfort while you are working.
Remember, you can always rearrange your office when you get comfortable in your new location and know where you want everything.
